Phi Alpha Honor Society
Phi Alpha is an honor society for social work students dedicated to excellence in scholarship and high professional standards. The purposes of Phi Alpha Honor Society are to provide a closer bond among students of social work and to promote humanitarian goals and ideals. Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership, those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work.
Requirements for membership:
- declared social work major
- achieved sophomore status
- completed 12 quarter hours of required social courses
- achieved gpa of 3.0
- achieved gpa of 3.25 in required social work courses
- local chapters may establish higher eligibility requirements
Our activities include the following:
- Adopt-a-highway
- DarsFest
- Congratulations cards to new social work major inductees
- Socials
- Speakers
- Other special events and projects, often in conjunction with the Student Social Work Association.
